Bayard Rustin: the gay black pacifist at the heart of the March on Washington. He died 28 years ago today. But he was kept in the background because of his sexual orientation, and his desire to be true to himself.
Some people saw Rustin as a liability. Hopefully times have changed as the sexual orientation hierarchy continues to fall, and we can now better honor his contributions.
