Women Stick Together

Alanah Pearce, a game reviewer from Australia, decided to do something about “young boys” tweeting threats and disgusting comments concerning what they were going to do to her, so she decided to tell someone: their moms. She is hoping that someone can influence these males before they turn into worse specimen as men.

OK for Charles Manson, but not Gays and Lesbians

In 17 states, couples who love each other are not allowed to marry. But heterosexual mass murderer Charles Manson, serving a life sentence, can. Manson is 80 and his fiance, Star Burton, is 26.

Huffington Post says it all in the title of the article: Mass Murderer Charles Manson Can Get Legally Married, But A Lot of Gay Couples Still Can't.

Gender Equality Benefits Everyone

According to an article published in the Telegragh (UK), gender equality helps men and well as women. A study published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, both men and women tend to perform better in Olympic competition if they come from countries with better educational equality.

Greater income inequality was linked to countries having fewer medals.

Another examples or how hierarchies hurt everyone, including those on top who think that their privilege means hierarchies should not be challenged.

The people who wrote the article said that the argument that striving for equality for women means that men will lose out is not substantiated in Olympic sports. “Rather, gender inequality is likely to hurt both women and men by encouraging stereotypes that limit their ability to reach their full potential as individuals,” they said.

My Goodness – Russia is Certainly Bringing Up the Rear

In an announcement last week that may open opportunities for other gays and lesbians, and at the least make corporate CEO jobs seem a little less unattainable, Tim Cook of Apple told the world he is gay.

Many people praised Cook, but it seems that Russia didn't learn anything from Cook's essay in Bloomburg Businessweek.

A memorial to Steve Jobs in St. Petersburg, Russia, that looked like a large iPhone, was removed because it apparently "violates Russia’s law against gay propaganda.”

As hierarchies fall, no matter who is on top and who is on the bottom, change comes from people who understand that hierarchies are the same, no matter what the criteria used to set them up. Then, on the other hand, there are people who can't cross the line to see that gender, age, race, size, sexual orientation are criteria whose hierarchies have the same characteristics.

Russia, you are clearly not seeing the connection. One day your citizens will look back and wonder how you could have been so naive.
