Irish Prime Minister and His Boyfried Breakfast with Pence

We have to smile when we read that Irish Prime Minister Taoiseach Leo Varadkar went for breakfast at the home of Vice President Mike Pence, and brought his boyfriend cardiologist Mike Barrett along.

Pence is a conservative Christian and has a vast history of supporting and promoting the sexual orientation hierarchy. He was worked hard for anti-LGBTQ legislation and against same-sex marriage. While governor of Indiana in 2015, he signed a “religious freedom” law that allowed businesses to refuse services to LGBTQ customers. His campaign website suggested he supported gay “conversion” therapy when he ran successfully for a House seat 19 years ago. He also claims that “societal collapse was always brought about following an advent of the deterioration of marriage and family.”

Last year, Varadkar attended the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City with Barrett, noteworthy since the parade had banned LGBTQ groups from participating until 2015.

Highest Priority of GOP - Maintain Hierarchy

Sophia Tesfaye in Salon points out that even though this week a dozen senators defected Trump, that Trump still holds an iron grip over every elected GOP official.

"Trump’s wall is a loser — by a large margin — in nearly every poll of U.S. voters. Yet only one of the 20 Republican senators representing swing states and up for re-election next year voted against the president’s power move to build his pet project. Of the seven Republican senators facing particularly competitive races in 2020, as designated by the Cook Political Report, six voted with Trump."

Since building and maintaining hierarchies is THE primary motivation of the current Republican party, it is no surprise that they champion their champion hierarchy builder in Trump. The Republican base is becoming even stronger in its commitment to conserving hierarchies (conservative), and its elected officials desperately hope that its hierarchy-conservative base can win elections, at a time when hierarchies are eroding.

NH Republican Lawmakers Mock Moms Against Gun Violence by Wearing Pearls

Condemned as sexist and insensitive, male Republican lawmakers in New Hampshire wore pearl necklaces while female gun control activists shared their own experiences with gun violence at a recent hearing.

Many of the gun control activists were members of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

From Kamala Harris: "Too many guns are falling into the hands of dangerous people, threatening kids' lives and making our communities less safe. These moms are fighting to confront gun violence and protect our children. They don't deserve to be mocked. We stand with you."

These male legislators see themselves so on top of our nation's hierarchies, that their behavior is fine with them. They expect no accountability for how their actions or policies affect other people, and they expect to be able to treat people they push lower on their hierarchies any way they want.
